Honey and bee products
Mountain beekeeping in Valtellina
Our farm
Musher and beekeepers in the Alps
The Husky Village is not only one of the largest and best equipped sleddog facilities in Europe, but also a real farm in Valtellina, where honey and other excellent bee products are produced. Together with the huskies, around half a million bees live here, finding in the nature of the Alps the local flowers to feed on in the warmer months of the year and then wintering at lower altitudes in other parts of the Valtellina.
From their incessant and invaluable activity we obtain some delicious products, which our guests find on sale at the Husky Village at the end of their experience with the sled dogs: authentic mountain honey, a fine mead and the typical Valtellina cupèta, 100% Valtellina and 100% local products that bear the name of the musher, the one who drives the sled and the husky team.
Producing honey while helping the environment
Keeping bees is an activity that has important implications in terms of environmental sustainability, all the more so in the mountains as we do at Husky Village. Bees are extremely valuable insects for the natural world, since 70% of the pollination of existing plant species depends on their activity. By hosting beehives on our farm we thus contribute, in our own small way, to saving the bees (each hive in full production has about 80,000 bees).
But it is above all the bees that do something for us: in addition to giving us honey, from which we obtain our beekeeping products, these insects pollinate the flowers they find in the area and ensure the preservation of the local environment, maintaining its biodiversity. At a time when even in our latitudes we are touching the effects of climate change, being beekeepers in the mountains is our concrete response to global warming.

Products 100% made in Valtellina
honey, mead, cupeta: authentic mountain excellence
Musher honey
Multi-flower and chestnut honey - 500 g and 1 kg jars
The honey of the Husky Village is a Valtellina mountain honey of the highest quality, obtained exclusively from local flowers and pollens and bottled in 500 g and 1 kg jars.
There are two types of honey: millefiori honey, amber-coloured and with soft-caramel and fruity notes, ideal for the preparation of desserts or to be poured into drinks instead of sugar, and chestnut honey, darker and slightly bitterish, widely used in combination with cheeses.
Musher Mead
500 ml bottles
From the fermentation of honey we obtain a tasty 500 ml bottled mead. Also known as the ‘nectar of the gods’, mead is an alcoholic beverage that is prepared without alcohol (the alcohol content is in fact obtained from the fermentation process) and is sipped as a digestif at the end of a meal or as an aperitif.
We produce millefiori mead, sweet and mouth-watering, excellent for any palate, and chestnut mead, intense and structured.
The Musher's Cupeta
Pack of 10 x 40 grams
The cupeta is a typical Valtellina sweet prepared with simple ingredients from the local tradition: walnuts, biscuits, sheets of wafers and, of course, honey.
It is a characteristic food of the autumn and winter months, as in ancient times it served as an energy and anti-cold snack, but this is also true today: just a bite of cupeta is enough to regain energy, as well as to savour the deliciousness of the mixture made with our honey.
